In the new economy, a network of “smart devices” leverage the internet to become the “Internet of Things (IoT),” bringing with it new opportunities, but also policy challenges. How do governments encourage IoT innovation while simultaneously protecting consumer privacy and network security? Will we have the broadband and spectrum infrastructure necessary for the massive scaling of networked devices? Do we have the human analytical capital to extract value from data that IOT will generate?
