Ready for Warren at RootsCamp  ...1 of 1 >
Dec. 14, 2014 -- Some 2,000 young progressive activists attended New Organizing Institute's RootsCamp at the Washington Convention Center on Saturday and Sunday, and Ready for Warren was on hand to spread the word and sign up volunteers.  Above, Erica Segrans heads the effort and Sean McKeown works on social media.  (The Kat-Liz figure is a reference to "The Hunger Games" series.

Ready for Warren, which made its first public appearance at the Netroots Nation conference five months ago and formally filed with the FEC on Aug. 7, reported a very modest total of $39,799.45 raised through Nov. 24 (post-general report), a huge contrast to the Ready for Hillary super PAC, which has raised about $12.1 million.  While Clinton supporters typically cite her experience or potential to be the first woman president, Warren supporters are more likely to point to specific issues the Senator has advocated.  Despite Warren's repeated disavowals of interest in running, the Ready for Warren volunteers seemed energized and enthusiastic.  For example, it recently released an open letter from more than 200 former Obama staffers calling on Warren to run.
The effort to persuade Warren to run received a significant boost earlier in the week when MoveOn.org Political Action launched its Run Warren Run campaign, and pledged to spend $1 million toward that effort (+).  Run Warren Run also had a booth at this gathering (not shown).  RootsCamp featured a panel on the draft Warren movement, and Ready for Warren and Run Warren Run held an after party on Saturday night at Baby Wale on 9th Street, N.W..
