PHILADELPHIA 2016 HOST COMMITTEE TO KICK OFF THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION WITH PHILLY FEAST STREET FOOD FESTIVAL

Diverse food, entertainment and retail vendors will unite Convention attendees, volunteers and Philadelphians on the first day of the Democratic National Convention

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention today provided additional details about the local street food festival, called “Philly Feast: United We Eat,” that will kick off the Democratic National Convention on Monday, July 25th from 11am-3pm in Old City.  The festival will offer a diverse lineup of local street food specialties, live music and a variety of Philadelphia-centric retail vendors. The festival will allow Convention attendees, volunteers, delegates and Philadelphians to mingle together while enjoying Philadelphia specialties. 
 
“The Host Committee is dedicated to allowing Philadelphians to share in the excitement of the Convention and has created special, unique events like Philly Feast to bring residents into the fun around town,” said Kevin Washo, Executive Director of the Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee. “Philadelphia is a foodie city, and this street food festival will be a great way for Convention guests to mingle with Philadelphians and try some of Philadelphia’s delicious food specialties – it will be the tastiest party in town.”
 
Philly Feast will take place between 2nd and 4th Streets from Market to Race Streets; entrance to the festival is at 3rd and Market Streets.
 
“Philly Feast: United We Eat” is presented by The Food Trust, Plate of the Union and Welcome America, Inc. These partners worked with the Host Committee to carefully curate a culinary experience featuring the best of Philadelphia’s food vendors. The lineup will showcase a diverse array of authentic, ethnic cuisines and additional vendors focused on fresh, healthy, locally-sourced food.

The festival’s Stars Stage will feature performances from Julian King, Chill Moody, Philbilly, and the B Street Band. The Stripes Stage will feature performances by dance groups from Philadelphia and the surrounding areas, including The Roger Lee Dancers, On Edge Movement Dance, and Philly Drag Mafia. Throughout the festival, there will also be roving entertainers, creating a multifaceted arts and culture experience. Guests will be able to participate in games and activities, including cornhole and an interactive social media wall.  
 
Vendors from Philadelphia and Pennsylvania will showcase and sell their crafts, clothing, jewelry and other products.
