RNC Announces Committee on Permanent Organization Chair

WASHINGTON – Today Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus announced Haley Barbour will serve as Chairman of the Committee on Permanent Organization. Mary Buestrin, RNC Committeewoman from Wisconsin, will serve as Co-Chair.
 
“I’m excited to have Haley Barbour heading up this Committee,” said Chairman Priebus. “The Committee on Permanent Organization plays an important part in facilitating a productive and exciting Convention, and I have every confidence Haley’s years of experience and passionate work on behalf of our Party will help make that happen.”
 
“I am honored to be chairing the Committee on Permanent Organization,” said Haley Barbour. “As the eyes of America and the world turn to our Convention, our Committee is going to do its part to affirm that our Convention officers are fully qualified and ready to contribute to a successful week in Cleveland.”
 
“I’m privileged to be serving on this Committee,” said Mary Buestrin. “We are motivated to stop Hillary Clinton and put a Republican president in the White House, and we are going to work with all the delegates to accomplish our mission.”
 
Prior to the Convention, the Chairman of the RNC selects a number of Convention officers, including the Permanent and Temporary Chairmen, the Secretary and the Sergeant-at-Arms. The Permanent Organization Committee will meet at the beginning of the convention to review the slate and make its recommendation to the convention.
 
Barbour is a former governor of Mississippi and a former chairman of the RNC.
