GOPAC joins call for Republican presidential candidates to support restoring balance of power.

Arlington, Va. (March 9, 2016) – Today, GOPAC announced it is joining efforts by Republican state lawmakers to secure commitments from the leading Republican presidential candidates, Mr. Donald Trump, Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Marco Rubio and Governor John Kasich, to restore the balance of power between the states and the federal government.

Ohio Senate President Keith Faber is leading 64 state lawmakers to win support from the presidential candidates for five proposals:

  1. Restore the balance between the States and federal government.
  2. Pass a Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
  3. Drive economic growth through federal tax reform.
  4. Pass new common-sense regulatory review processes, standards, and limitations on the President and Congress.
  5. Nominate to the judiciary strong Constitutional conservatives who will respect the essential role of state authority in our federal system.

“The Founding Fathers did not write the Constitution with the intentions of making state governments junior partners.  This is why we are seeking our Republican presidential candidates to affirm their belief in the balance of power.  While we each have a favorite candidate, it has been a joy to work with a group of talented and dedicated of state leaders from around the country to ensure state based solutions are discussed to address the most pressing challenges our communities face,” stated Senate President Faber.

“The federal government has inundated America with rules and regulations including their demands on state governments.  As our presidential candidates promote their views on the proper role of government, it would benefit them to make clear how they would restore the balance of power between the states and the federal government as established in our country’s founding documents,” said GOPAC Chairman David Avella.
