Nov. 7, 2014 -- Days after
Democrats endured a drubbing in the midterm elections, members of the
DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee met at Twelve and K Hotel to go over
"Regulations of the Rules and Bylaws Committee for the 2016 Democratic
National Convention." The work proceeded fairly quickly as only
minor changes were required from the regulations used for the 2012
convention. These regulations apply until the Convention standing
committees take over 56 days out from the Convention. Earlier in
the year, the Rules and Bylaws Committee drafted the Delegate Selection
Rules and the Call for the 2016 Democratic National Convention (1, 2); the
full DNC approved those documents at their summer meeting in Atlanta on
Aug. 23. Meanwhile, the DNC has not yet determined where the
party will hold its Convention; an announcement is expected later this
year or early in 2015. The dates of the Convention are not yet
known either.
