Family Research Council's ProLifeCon  ...1 of 1 >
Jan. 22, 2014-Former Sen. Rick Santorum was one of more than a dozen speakers to address Family Research Council's 9th annual ProLifeCon, a conference for the online pro-life community.  He lauded the pregnancy center movement, which he said is "changing hearts and minds."  Santorum also recounted doing an interview in San Diego, where the interviewer had said Santorum believes life begins at conception.  Santorum said he had disagreed with that characterization, telling the interviewer, "I know that life begins at conception."  "Truth is on our side.  Science is on our side.  Young people are on our side," Santorum said.
Santorum also took questions.  The first came from a woman who said she hopes he runs for president in 2016.  Santorum said he is "certainly very open to that."  He noted that he had won 11 states in 2012.  "We have a good track record of success," Santorum said.  However, he noted that he has "seven children and a little girl [Bella] and a mom who's going through six races."  Connie Mackey, president of FRC Action PAC, asked about campaigns in Virginia, where, she said, conservatives are portrayed as anti-women in race after race.  "When you're defending, you're losing," said Santorum.  "The Republican Party on the issue of abortion, they don't want to talk about it," he said.  He said Republicans should go on the offense on "the indefensible positions that they [Democrats] hold."
