Desperate for Christmas gifts, Democracy in Action turned to the campaigns' online stores. |
"Made in America" |
"Add this beautiful glass, gloss red ornament to your family tree." |
American Made. |
Ed. - Very limited offerings. |
Ed. - The most distinctive item in the store. |
Ed - Very limited offerings. |
Ed. - Very limited offerings. The Gifts section only had two items: a Presidential Dog Raglan ($15) and Trump Notepads and Pens (Set for 2) ($25). |
Ed. - The only store with a Homeware section. Would likely have opted for Hillary's Holiday Ornament but they were sold out. |
Ed. - Very limited selection |
Ed. - The Sanders campaign store is surprisingly limited. Given some of the campaign's supporters (+),, one might expect a bit more creativity but possibly their online fundrasing has been doing so well, they haven't focused on this area. Many of the campaign sites have items for babies. |
Ed. - Would not be Christmas without some socks. |
"All I want for Christmas is a new president" |
Total: 14 items for $410.75. Tee-shirts ranged in price from $15 to $30.

The number
of campaigns has dwindled with the exits of Perry, Walker, Jindal and
Graham on the Republican side and Webb and Chafee on the Democratic
side. Of
the 16 major campaigns remaining, 12 have online stores. The four
campaigns without stores are those of Christie, Fiorina, Gilmore and
Pataki. For Fiorina, the CARLY for America super PAC is fulfilling many
campaign functions, including running an online store. The
pro-Carson super PAC, The 2016 Committee, also has an online
store. Several of the stores have very thin offerings.
The most basic items are signs, stickers and buttons and apparel. Many of the stores emphasize American-made, or for the Democrats, union-made. Several stores offer autographed materials for a premium. Also evident in a few of the stores, the copywriters clearly had a bit of fun describing the products. Some of the stores had specially designed Christmas items. We snapped up those; for more minimal stores the basic tee-shirt was it. |
Ed. The Paul campaign has some of the more customized items. including Kelley Paul T-shirts highlighting the issue of human trafficking, and a couple of Pat Miletich T-shirts. |
